City Announces Change To Traffic Control on North First and Wayne Streets
March 30, 2015—Olean—The City of Olean has announced a change to the traffic control at the intersection of Wayne Street and North First Street. The intersection will temporarily become a four-way stop in order to accommodate the increased traffic flow on North First Street during the construction on North Union Street. In addition there will no longer be restrictions on turning.
“We are making this change in light of the anticipated increase in the use of North First Street,” said William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean. “Currently there are stops signs and turning restrictions on North First Street. This change will allow travelers, who use North First Street as an alternative route, to travel in any direction at the four-way stop.”
Mayor Aiello added, “There will also be additional
parking spaces on both sides of Delaware Avenue between North Union and
North Barry Streets to accommodate the loss of parking spaces on North
Union Street during the construction. These temporary spaces will be
restricted to two hour parking.”
