The City of Olean Department of Public Works is announcing the following street sections will undergo restriping starting the week of September 27, 2021. The contractor’s striping crew will be on site daily for two weeks and delays can be expected at these locations:

Main Street – Front Street to Oviatt Street
Washington Street – 4th Street to 21st Street
Spring Street – Front Street to Alder Street
East State Street – Front Street to East Avenue
Laurens Street – N Union Street to 1st Street
North 1st Street – W State Street to Laurens Street
Sullivan Street – N Union Street to 1st Street
Homer Street – Buffalo Street to Oregon Avenue
Buffalo Street – W Fall Rd to Homer Street

The following streets will be restriped with a new traffic pattern as described below:

Main Street – Front Street to Oviatt Street
– Reduction from 3 travel lanes to 2 travel lanes and a parallel parking lane

Washington Street – 4th Street to 21st Street
– New centerline and parking lane line striping. New shared lane markings for bike boulevard

Spring Street – Front Street to Alder Street
– Moving parking from north side of the street to south side. School drop off zone. New centerline and parking lane line.

East State Street – Front Street to East Avenue
– Eastbound traffic: Significantly reduced left turning lane onto Front Street
– Westbound traffic: Addition of parking lane on north side and lane shift after State and Front intersection

Laurens Street – N Union Street to 1st Street
– Addition of parking/loading lane along north side and slight shift of centerline striping to the south

Please use caution when traveling these areas. Traffic delays should be expected. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. We appreciate your patience as we undertake this next project.
