City of Olean Police Department Hosts Annual “Shop with a Cop” Program,
Hoping to Brighten the Holidays for Local Families

December 18, 2024 – The City of Olean Police Department, in partnership with Walmart and the Olean City School District, is excited to announce the return of the annual Shop with a Cop program.  This much anticipated event helps provide local children the opportunity to enjoy a holiday shopping experience, alongside local law enforcement officers.  This special event took place yesterday and today, at the Olean Walmart.  Multiple officers assisted children with selecting gifts for their families, and for themselves, to help ensure that every child has a memorable holiday season.

The Shop with a Cop program aims to foster positive relationships between local law enforcement and the community; especially the youth.  Children are chosen by the school district based upon financial need, positive behavior, and displaying hard work in their studies.

This event is an amazing opportunity to connect with the children and families we serve; bringing joy and making a difference during the holiday season.  It’s a chance for our officers to show the community that we are here to help and support them; not just during emergencies, but also in moments of celebration.
