Mayor Aiello met Mayor Rachael Franco from the town of Groton, Ct. at an Oilers game. She enjoyed her visit to Olean and said that she found the round-a-bouts to be a lovely addition to our downtown, the vast array of flowers was breath taking, and Lincoln Park with the pavilion was stunning.

2023

The City of Olean’s team for the 13th Annual Southern Tier Corporate Challenge.

Mayor Aiello met Ukrainian’s Viktor and Elina Lozynskyi and two of their five children at their home on June 1. The visit was arranged by Jean Walk of the Olean Charter for Compassion.

Mayor Aiello thanks the St. Bonaventure University Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams for picking up litter in the City on January 11, 2023.

2021

William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean, has completed training through the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) Elected Officials Academy and is now a member of its first graduating class of sixteen city and village officials.

On September 8th, 2021 Mayor Aiello issued a Special Proclamation recognizing Impact Internet at a Ribbon Cutting at Lincoln Square. Impact Internet currently provides complimentary Wi-fi in Lincoln Park and will soon offer the service in War Veterans Park and Bradner Stadium.

On Monday, September 6, 2021, Mayor Aiello issued a proclamation proclaiming September 5th through September 10th, 2021 as Suicide Prevention Week in the City of Olean. The Cattaraugus County Suicide Prevention Coalition and Department of Community Services organized to Paint the Town Yellow and hosted a Memory Tree Lighting Ceremony in Lincoln Park.

The Park Place @ Lincoln Square officially opened today in Lincoln Park as Mayor Aiello and Jeff Belt of SolEpoxy cut the ribbon on the new facility. Club House Diner will be serving: Noon until 8:00 p.m. from Tuesday, July 13 until Saturday July 17th.

2019/2020

Olean’s first Halloween drive thru trick or treating was a complete success. Thank you to Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and all of the volunteers and people who donated candy and treats.

Happy Holidays from the Olean Municipal Building!

Mayor Aiello proclaims October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and commends the Olean Professional Firefighters for wearing special shirts to honor those who have fought the disease.

Olean Firefighter Daniel Gonska participated in the New York City Memorial Stair Climb on July 1, 2018. He ascended the 80 floors of 3 World Trade Center carrying 125 pounds of equipment. Outside the Manhattan temperature registered in at 101 degrees. Despite the grueling conditions Gonska completed the challenge in one hour, ten minutes and fifty seconds. Firefighter Gonska climbed in memory of New York City Firefighter Joseph Hunter who died on September 11, 2001 as he attempted to save victims trapped in the World Trade Center. Firefighter Gonska raised $2,712 for the Ray Pfeifer Foundation.

TrolleyTrackAs our utility lines get an update on North Union Street, Olean’s past comes to the forefront. Residents, Earl McElfresh and Steve Teachman salvaged a piece of the old trolley track and brought it to Mayor Aiello’s office.

As the final touches are made to North Union Street, the Wayne Street Rotary had its first traffic and pedestrians.

High above the Olean Fire Department’s Ladder Truck was used as a platform to tape the event for an upcoming video. Stay tuned!

Olean Oilers owners Brian and Rene' O'Connell flank Brock Blovsky (from Olean) and Mayor Aiello who threw out the first pitch. The Oilers went on to win the game and the NYCBL championship!

Members of the Class of 2020 are recognized as the school year ends.

The new Black Locust trees are paid for in part by National Grid’s 10,000 Trees and Growing – a program from National Grid to plant appropriate trees beneath overhead electric lines.
