City of Olean Revised Tax Bills Are Correct

June 9, 2025—Olean—Attention City of Olean taxpayers, the revised tax bills, printed on yellow paper, mailed on June 4, 2025 are correct. Misinformation, circulated on social media, states that the percentage rate is incorrect.

The total tax levy for 2025-2026 is $8,493,056, a 5.45 percent change over last year’s tax levy of $8,053,927. This figure is required to be on tax bills as defined in New York State Real Property Tax Law 922 (1) (a).

The tax rate per $1,000 of assessed valuation of $17.745070 is correct and used to calculate taxes due to
the City.

“City of Olean personnel worked quickly and diligently to correct the situation and issue new corrected
tax bills and refunds, to indicate otherwise, on social media without gathering facts, is imprudent,”
William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean, said.
