Street Sweeping to Begin in the City of Olean

May 5, 2023—Olean—Street sweeping for streets assigned to Week A will begin in Olean on May 15, 2023 and for streets assigned to Week B on May 22, 2023. The street assignment list is on the City of Olean website. The program will run through October 15, 2023. No parking shall be permitted on streets that are to be swept from 2:00 am until 7:00 am. The Olean Police Department will patrol and issue tickets in violation of the ordinance. A sweeper ordinance violation is $20. After May 31, 2023 the sweeper ordinance violation will increase to $30.

In addition, no parking or standing of vehicles is permitted between 3:00 am to 6:00 am on Monday through Saturday on North and South Union Streets (between South City Line and Main St) and East and West State Streets (from East City line to 15th St).

“The street sweeper plays an important role in Olean’s sanitation program and I thank residents for following the guidelines to allow the sweeper access to the entire street,” said William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean. “Throughout the season, the City’s website and the digital sign in War Veterans Park on the corner of East State and Front Street, will indicated the week (A or B) for the street sweeper schedule.”
