The City of Olean Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for appointment to a full-time position of Automotive Mechanic (Diesel).  Minimum qualifications as established by the Civil Service Commission state candidates must have two years’ experience repairing and overhauling automotive diesel engines.  Completion of a certified training course in diesel engine repair by an approved NYS technical training institute can be substituted for one year of experience.  Candidates must have good knowledge of diesel and large displacement gasoline engines.  This position requires a valid NYS Commercial A or B Driver’s License.  City of Olean residents preferred.  Applications will be accepted until Monday, January 24, 2024, and can be obtained from the Office of Department of Public Works, 101 E State St, Municipal Building-Room 206, by calling (716) 376-5650, or from our website at www.cityofolean.org.  Interested applicants should submit a completed application to:
