City of Olean Fire Department Media Release
629 South Union Street MVA
This morning at 2:41 AM Olean Fire Department units were dispatched to 629 South Union Street for a car into the building. The vehicle was traveling south bound out of the city when it left the roadway striking the home. Upon arrival Olean units found the vehicle resting inside the living room of the home and significant structural damage to the residence. A 15 year old male patient who was sleeping on a couch in the living room was transported via ambulance for multiple injuries. The driver of the vehicle had self-extricated from the vehicle with no significant injuries noted.
The officer in charge requested code enforcement and the Fire department Technical rescue team to the home due to the amount of damage. The home has been deemed uninhabitable and an emergency demolition was found to be necessary. The home has been taken down as of 9 am this morning.
Believers chapel was also requested to the scene to aid the other 6+ displaced residents of the home. Port Allegany Fire Departments structural collapse team was requested but subsequently cancelled due to the pending demolition. The incident is currently being investigated by the Olean Police Department.
