City of Olean Fire Department Media Release
Building Fire – 112 West Green Street

At 10:13pm on Saturday November 11th, 2023 Olean Firefighters received a phone call to the station from the occupants at 112 West Green Street reporting their house is on fire. At the time of the call Olean Firefighters were out on two ambulance calls. Three Olean Firefighters responded with two engines. Olean Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes of the call. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke and fire on the rear exterior of the building. A hose line was stretched from the engine and crews attacked the fire from the exterior of the building until additional firefighters were able to make it to the scene. The fire was contained to the rear, exterior of the structure, with some smoke and water damage inside.

Olean Firefighters were assisted on scene by Trans Am Ambulance and Olean Police Department. Allegany and Weston Mills Fire Departments were placed on standby in their quarters. Once cleared from the scene Trans Am Ambulance provided mutual aid assistance with a motor vehicle accident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time by the Olean Police Department, Olean Fire Department and the Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team.

Olean firefighters would like to remind the public of the importance of dialing 911. Please do not call the fire station directly if you have an emergency. Due to our increased call volume firefighters may not be in the station when you call. Please dial 911 no matter how big or small your emergency may be. 911 dispatchers can reach Olean Fire Department units by radio when they are out in the field. For non-emergency requests or general inquiries, calling the fire station directly is appropriate.
